Consultations & Simulations

Introduction

One of the key questions patients ask is “What will I look like after the transplant?”. Providing images of other patients is great to validate the clinic’s & surgeon’s quality, but does little to convey a personalised outcome.

People think visually, so by provide a realistic simulation can be highly impactful for their decision making. Often, it has been years since they’ve felt comfortable with their hair, so to provide them with a glimpse into their future, creates a powerful emotional connection.

In-Clinic

Equipment:
- Recommended iPad Pro 12.9 inch (simulations will work on most tablets).
- Recommended tablet stand (most other stands are suitable)

Browser:
- On iOS please use the Safari browser as Chrome disables the camera
- On Android use Chrome

Steps:
1) Login to the Clinic portal: www.viewlabs.co
2) Patient enters their details & agrees to the ‘Terms & Conditions’
3) Enter patient’s hair attributes (hair colour & type)
4) Adjust simulation to best match patient (see below)

Remote

Video Conference:
- Recommended Zoom conference calls (all other conference systems are suitable)
- The patient must be using a device that has access to a camera

Steps:
1) Login to the Clinic portal: www.viewlabs.co
2) Send patient online consent form: www.viewlabs.co/consent
3) Enter patient’s hair attributes (hair colour & type)
4) Sent patient simulation link (via conference call chat or email)
5) Have patient share their screen to assist them with simulation adjustments

Simulation Adjustments

Practice makes perfect and the controls provide a high degree of flexibility for each patient.
The tutorial can be accessed in the top-left menu bar.

1) Brightness - Use the slider to match the patients hair colour to the simulated hair

2) Area Size (h, w, d) - Use the sliders to match the simulated hair area to the area of hair loss
     i) h = height
     ii) w = width
iii) d = depth (turn head at an angle to best fit)

3) Position (y, z, r) - Use the sliders to match the simulated hair position
     i) y = height axis
ii) z = depth axis (turn head at an angle to best fit)
iii) r = rotational axis (best for changing hairline shape)

4) Inputs (regions, grafts, densities & styles)
     i) Regions
          - All regions can be adjusted together with the ‘Regions’ selected
          - Each region (N1, N2, N3) can be adjusted separately when any specific region is selected i.e. ‘Region N1’
     ii) Grafts & densities
          - Grafts - Select the amount of grafts simulated for each region
          - Densities - Choose from the hair density factor for each region i.e. hairs simulated per graft
iii) Info icon (‘i’) - Shows hair many hairs have been simulated for each region, based upon the graft & density combination chosen
iv) Styles - Switch between different patient hairstyles

Patient Experience

Encourage the patient to:
- Play with the different styles
- Move their head around
- Rock their head from side to side (hair is animated)
- Turn the simulation on & off using the bottom-right toggle
